Listen to Snyder, he has done all the things wrong, so he knows the right way to
do any job right.
As you can see, get out of the shower before you start.
First thing, remove the small cap.
With your finger nail or a small screw driver.
Then remove the screw.
If you would like, you can use the handle puller.
Turn the handle to hot and GET OUT OF THE SHOWER.
That is so you can get the puller on .
If you do not have one, I will show you how to do it the Synder way.
GET A BIG WRENCH!
And make the handle go away.
Just put it on the handle end, pull down ,it will brake it off .
Just like this!
Remove the screws.
Remove the face plate.
Remove the center piece.
You have it open now.
Remove the screws that holds the face plate on .
 .
Turn the water off with the allen wrench
If you do not have shut off's in the shower valve, you will have to turn off the cold and hot water to the bathroom.

Just loosen the big nut.
Now you have loosened the big nut, remove the spindle and the big nut by
turning the the spindle, not the nut.
To get the spindle and nut out ,you have to pull, and move it up and down.
I do not like to use this tool, it has stripped seats on me.
I like this one, it has worked good for me.
This is how you get the hot water seat out.
Put the tool in and turn it .
Again I do not like this tool,It can strip it also.
I like this tool.
When you remove the cold seat ,you must push  in when you turn it .
If you do not it will strip.
OK, time to put it back together.
First, put the cold water seat in.
Then put the hot water seat.
When you turn it, you must  push it in at the same time, so it does not strip it.
You have one shot at  this.
If you strip it, you will not be able to change that seat ever again!.
Lube the spindle before you put it in the big nut.
Like this.
Make sure you put the gasket on first.
A allen wrench is used to remove the  nut that holds the deverter valve.
Be careful when you loosen it there is only one thred.
This is the deverter valve.
To remove the deverter valve, use an easy out tool to pull it out.

.......

To put the valve back in push it in with your thumb, then put the small nut
back on.
Now it is time to put  the stem back in, just push in and turn it with your fingers so that you do not strip it.
Tighten the big nut.
Put the handle on to turn the valve off.
Now you can turn the water back on.
Put the face plate screw holder back in.
Then put center piece back on.
Put face plate on.
Put the handle back on.
You have just fixed the shower, one more thing to do put the cap on and you are done.
I hope you had fun doing this.
